The one about the text effect-week 2

Hello, Hello, I said I would return and I do not lie!!
I am slightly surprised I have no followers as yet... I'll give it some time, Ashton and Demi will be twittering about me in no time!!

This week in digital art we looked at incorporating text with images. We looked at how to connect an image with text using Adobe Illustrator. I have never used Adobe Illustrator so it was quite interesting to see what I came up with. I'm pretty sure students in years to come may study my work along side Picasso:

This image I created is one of my best friends Cazz. This is my favorite photo of her. Her eyes are so intense in this image. Straightaway the viewer is drawn to her eyes. I have painted this image before and tried to capture her complete personality. I do not believe I was able to do this. So I intend to keep trying. The text is from a facebook status update I wrote about her when I was looking at this photo around the time of what should have been her 24th birthday. In this case I believe the writing strengthens how beautiful her eyes were. It is not a finished piece however just an idea I was playing with.

Thinking about my proposal and the five artworks I intend on creating I will be focusing on the face especially eyes! You can tell a lot about a person just by looking at their eyes. If they are happy, sad, angry, sleepy. You can tell if a person is lying and if they are telling the truth. just by looking at their eyes. EYES DON'T LIE! I love that!

Barbara Kruger was on of the artists we looked at this week. Her artwork intrigued me. I loved the images she creates. "She questions the viewer about feminism, consumerism and individual autonomy and desire," (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Kruger). She uses magazine images and questions their what they really stand for. Here are some images that I loved:

Her limited color use keeps the image clear and easy to interpret. By keeping the image in black and white it gives the viewer the idea that the image is there to contradict the text which is white on red background. The text is clearly the main feature in her work and it makes the
viewer rethink the actual meaning of the image.

This week I learnt that text within an image can be very influential. It can be used to enhance an idea or contradict it. I am thinking one of my pieces could be an eye made purely out of words. Seeing as my theme is faces, I was thinking my FACEbook status updates, as useless as they are could be made useful!

Well that is blog two completed. I have definitely outdone myself this time!
Goodbye loyal followers, I know you're out there... somewhere!
