The one about the virgin blogger- Week 1

ROAHHHH!!! DONT GET EXCITED! This is not a blog by a talking lion, I'm just dressed as a lion. My name is Jac, Jacquie, or Jacquelyn. I am 24 and obviously studying digital art or I would not be writing this blog. So blogging... never have I done this, hence the title of my first blog. I struggle with normal visual diaries knowing that one person will look at it reading about my thoughts, ideas for art, inspirations, experiences and so forth that contribute to my art work. It makes me nervous knowing someone is judging the way I think, how I come up with my ideas and what I feel in order to create my work. For me my art is very personal... I do not lie and it is my way to freely express how I feel... Sometimes that may be sad, angry, happy, dark, mysterious, funny, cynical, sarcastic... the list goes on. Mostly it is a way for me to express things I might not express in "real life" for fear of judgment, argument or confrontation. So I'm sure you can understand my nervousness about opening up my thoughts, opinions and so forth to not just my teacher but to my peers and also anyone else who may stumble across this humble little blog.

I am very excited about beginning this class. I am not very confident with creating work through digital media. I love painting, especially faces. I wish I had more time to paint. For me painting is so involved its not just your hand and arm you are using its your whole body its your emotions that you use to create a painting. I do not see digital art as involved or emotionally driven however discovering what digital art has to offer and opening my mind up to something new can't hurt. I might even learn something I can incorporate with painting!

Rhizome is a digital art website that displays many different digital art from all over the world. It provides spaces for discussions among artists and art lovers. It advertises art exhibitions. This is one of the websites that we looked in class today and will probably provide me with much help in the semester to come!

"It is dedicated to the creation, presentation, preservation, and critique of emerging artistic practices that engage technology," (Rhizome website).

For this first week I decided to explore and look at Photo mosaics. I have 3 puzzles which are made up of photo mosaics, my favorite a hot air balloon. I LOVE hot air balloons!

I also love puzzels, thats right I am a geek, and I come from a long line of them too, sorry Dad, Big Bro!
Anyway I love this concept of creating a picture from thousands of tiny pictures, it looks amazing and I wonder how hard it must be to create! The eye image above is also crazy and it makes me feel quite uncomfortable, I LOVE it!

This here ends my very first blog entry I hope you enjoyed it. I know you are all quite
excited for what is to come, stay tuned...
