Painting on the Computer hey! Interesting idea! I am still not convinced. The idea is pretty cool, less messy and if you paint in oils a lot healthier but its just not the same. The smell of the paint, the feeling as it touches a clean new canvas, the excitement of beginning a new piece its just not as exhilarating on a computer!
The best part about today was getting to play with the Wacom tablet in Corel Painter. It takes a bit of getting used to but it could be very useful.
Corel Painter is an image editing graphics program similar to Photoshop. When using these programs it is best to have a high quality image to begin with so when printing the final image the quality still remains high. Using the website Corel: Freedom to create Your Way was very helpful to discover some of the tools that can be used. For example the importance of using layers when painting in watercolour. The idea is each layer is a different colour so you are able to change the opacity and maintain both the Wet Fringe and Diffusion settings. This fact can be very crucial depending on what kind of effect you are looking for.
This week I also played around further with my photo mosaic image. I was not happy with the photo I used of myself and I decided there were not enough eyes. To create more eyes I just cut and pasted what I already had and opened a new file. Here is the image I have come up with.
I also played around with the contrast and brightness aspects because I wanted to create more drama and impact. I achieved what I wanted this is my first completed piece. Only four more to go!!! Since I am quite a vain person I want this image printed big, like doorway big and on canvas... I wonder if I'm aiming too high and mistaking myself and my boyfriend for rich people!!!
